Character Analysis

Before consulting with a client, we should determine what aptitudes and talents are indicated in his or her chart.

Among the very first indicators are the readily observable planetary clusters. In Bill Gates's chart we find Jupiter, Pluto, and Kronos together, indicating a major upward trend in financial affairs. The factors at the beginning and at the end of the cluster, however, are both very slow-moving bodies which everyone born on this day also has clustered in his or her chart. Thus we look for midpoint connections involving the personal points, MC, and AS, and also take note that the 4th harmonic cluster is further linked through the 8th and 16th harmonics with Poseidon and with the Sun (a major personal point).

The next step is easy. On the 22.5° listing, the Sun shows at 12:32. We therefore look for all midpoints within ±1° orb and write them in a column at the left side of a sheet of paper, leaving room to write interpretations to the right.

In addition to the Sun, symbolizing the source of vitality, we also, normally, investigate Mars, symbolizing the native's energies and work. And a third axis is investigated to reveal special talents -- normally the Mercury/Jupiter axis is an indicator of the areas where the native successfully demonstrates accurate thinking and therefore gains public acceptance. Investigating 3 axes with orbs of ±1°, we in fact cover 6° out of the total 22.5° of the full circle. This is over 1/4 of the entire chart *.

The clusters will be the first things to catch our attention. Interpretations for them can be found in the Brummund Rulebook. The standard sequential order of the planets needs to be noted, as each midpoint triplicity is listed only once in the book, according to that order.

By using the uniquely convenient moveable 90° chart and dial on the Special Uranian program, we set the dial pointer on the Sun, then we see:

SU =KR=JU=PO=PL=AS/VU=AR/AS

Bill's biggest asset (JU.KR) consists of financial ascent (JU.KR, JU.PL) through an influential partnership (AS/VU0 recognized out among the general public (AR.AS). Note that the MC is not involved.

As noted before, his Sun shows in the 22.5° mode at 12°32', and we thus look for midpoints starting at 11°33'. These midpoints describe his actual work. The first section of interpretations after each planetary picture in the Brummund Rulebook indicates personality characteristics, and the second section indicates situations, events, and prognoses. From among the entire range of character qualities listed, we have selected those attributes which seem most appropriate to the individual case. Experience and intuition will be valuable assets to the astrologer doing this.

With these components alone we can already begin to sense an overall character assessment. However, this is not enough detail, since with assessment of only 2° of the full 22.5° range of the 16th harmonic format, we have considered only about 10% of the native's disposition.

Thus, we continue with the Mars axis, an indicator his job functions, and then the midpoint of ME/JU as accurate thinking.

As with the Sun axis, we likewise incorporate factors clustered with these axes into the interpretations.

In 22.5° notation, the ME/JU midpoint stands at 14:42. The first within-orb midpoint that we note is at 13:49, while HA/AP at 13:42 stands outside the orb, which ends at 13:43.

Zeus stands alone on the axis at 14:52, within the 1° orb, and thus it is included in the interpretation. The nearby PL/ZE midpoint combines with ZE through this axis to indicate remarkable productivity and efficiency due to development of creativity combined with intelligence.

Thus far we have uncovered a significant portion of Bill's aptitudes and abilities. We are additionally, however, interested in what drives him in his behavior and actions, and the Mandala will help us to do this.

-----

* Note: In the past, we would substitute other axes for MA or ME/JU if they overlapped more than 30' with each other or the Sun. However, further work the the Mandala led us to see that it was necessary to change the axis-selection method so that there should be no overlap between any of the 3 axes used for Character Analysis and the Mandala.
